Plantar fasciitisis one of the most common causes of heel pain. It is mainly caused by inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot and connects the heel bone to the toes.
The pain most often occurs when pressure is placed upon the heel after an extended period of non-weight bearing e.g. first thing in the morning or sitting to standing. The pain typically decreases after movement e.g. after a few steps.
